Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
HoneyLoop is a knitting and crochet companion app built by Brandon Surh. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it. We wrote this in plain English because you deserve to actually understand what you're agreeing to.
The short version: we collect only what's needed to make the app work. We don't run analytics, we don't show ads, and we don't sell your data.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address and display name. You can also sign in with Apple or Google, in which case we receive the name and email address associated with that account. Creating an account is optional — HoneyLoop works fully offline without one.
- Crafting data: Projects, patterns, yarn stash entries, tools, row counters, session history, notes, and photos you add to the app.
- Pattern files: PDF patterns you import into the app for use with our pattern parsing feature.
- Ravelry data: If you connect your Ravelry account, we import pattern and stash data from Ravelry at your request.
Information collected automatically
- Purchase information: When you subscribe to HoneyLoop Premium, our payment processor (RevenueCat) receives transaction data from the Apple App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not see your payment details (credit card number, etc.).
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not use any analytics SDKs (no Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar)
- We do not collect location data
- We do not use device fingerprinting or cross-app tracking
- We do not display ads or use ad-related tracking
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the app: Your crafting data is stored so you can track your projects, stash, and patterns.
- To sync your data: If you create an account, your data syncs across devices via our cloud service.
- To parse patterns: When you use the AI pattern parsing feature, your PDF is sent to our server for processing. The PDF content is used to generate step-by-step instructions and is not stored after parsing is complete.
- To manage your subscription: Your purchase information is used to unlock Premium features.
- To communicate with you: If you contact support, we use your email to respond.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your crafting data is stored locally on your device using on-device storage (AsyncStorage). This data stays on your phone and is accessible only to the HoneyLoop app.
If you create an account, your data is also synced to the cloud via Supabase, a hosted database service. Supabase stores data on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit.
The app is designed offline-first. Even if our servers are unavailable, your data remains accessible on your device.
4. Third-Party Services
HoneyLoop uses the following third-party services:
- Supabase — Cloud database and authentication. Stores your account and synced crafting data. Supabase Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat — Subscription and in-app purchase management. Processes purchase receipts from the App Store to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple Sign In / Google Sign In — If you use these to create your account, Apple or Google shares your name and email with us per their standard OAuth flows. Apple Privacy Policy · Google Privacy Policy
- Ravelry — If you connect your Ravelry account, we access your stash and pattern data via Ravelry's API using OAuth. We only read data you authorize. Ravelry Privacy Policy
- Anthropic (Claude API) — Powers the AI pattern parsing feature. When you submit a PDF for parsing, its content is sent to Anthropic's Claude API via a secure server-side function. The PDF content is processed in real time and is not stored by us or by Anthropic after processing. Anthropic Privacy Policy
5. Your Rights & Choices
- Use without an account: You can use HoneyLoop fully offline without creating an account. No data leaves your device.
- Disconnect Ravelry: You can disconnect your Ravelry account from the Profile tab at any time.
- Export your data: Your crafting data is stored on your device and can be accessed at any time.
- Opt out of cloud sync: Simply don't create an account, and all data stays on your device only.
- Access and correction: You can view and edit all your data directly within the app.
6. Data Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time:
- In the app: go to Profile tab → Account → Delete Account
- By email: send a request to support@honeyloop.app and we'll process it within 7 days
When you delete your account, all cloud-synced data is permanently removed from our servers. Data stored locally on your device remains until you uninstall the app.
7. Children's Privacy
HoneyLoop is available to users of all ages but is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@honeyloop.app.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when the policy was most recently revised.
